Socially Pet Peeved

Let me preface this post by stating: I am obsessed with social networking. I'm what they call an innovator--I have to try any type of social networking/technology that may or may not be the next big thing. However, I'm also what they would call a pessimist--little shit pisses me off. So I apologize in advance.

This list of pet peeves has been building in my head since I first got MySpace way back in 2005. Facebook followed in 2006. So here it is. Social networking pet peeves of yours truly. 

 

Pet Peeve #1: Any sort of quote in a Facebook/Twitter/[Insert social networking site here] status that is not directly relevant to you or events/people in the world. 

For example.

ACCEPTABLE: "After shootings we so often focus and make famous the shooter, what about the victims? We must remember them, learn their names, honor them." --Anderson Cooper

Socially relevant. Makes you think. CREDIT IS GIVEN. 

UNACCEPTABLE: "It's not about getting through the storm. It's about learning to dance in the rain." 

No one cares. Stop preaching. So original. Please get off my newsfeed. Bible references and quotes just copy/pasted from random Google searches all apply.

Pet Peeve #2: Parents as your "friend".

This is a new one to me. I love my mom but damnit, I don't like her "liking" every single thing I post. Or writing "You guys are so great together. I love you! I'm so lucky!" on every single picture of Tyler and I. I'm aware I sound like a total B right now but enough is enough. I'm sorry mom but you are now "hidden". :(

Pet Peeve #3: Changing your name to something that really isn't a name at all. Or even spelled right for that matter.

Case in point:

Really?! Really.

Pet Peeve #4: Signing off on every post.

Thank you, uncle Bob, for signing your name at the end of your post because your profile picture of you smiling wildly at the county fair wasn't hint enough. Oh, and YOUR NAME IS RIGHT THERE.

Ok, I'm done being a cranky pants.
